Blog Update: Age of Eagles Napoleonics, Battle of Raszyn

I've been lax updating this blog in the last few months. However, we still did some gaming during that time period and I will try to update with posts on several of our games.

Below is a 25mm Age of Eagles Napoleonic game that our friend Steve Logan put on late in May. It represented the battle of Raszyn in 1809; the forces of Austrian vs the forces of the Duchy of Warsaw, who were allied to France.

Above, the Poles are defending on the near side of a defensible stream that has a tributary and marshes all around. The town of Raszyn is at the top of the photo.

The Austrians enter the board from the opposite side of the table (bottom of photo).

A Polish brigade forms line in the face of the Austrian advance, with it's right anchored on the small village of Falenty.

The Austrians have forced the Poles out of Falenty, with the Poles forming a column on the other side of the road. The Austrians have pushed aggressively on the right towards the main stream (top right).

The Polish brigade near Falenty has fallen back across a stream (center). The Austrians are engaging the Poles on the Austrian right flank near a bridge.

The Austrian cavalry is starting an attack on their left flank (upper left of photo). Austrian artillery has unlimbered in range of the Polish mounted troops nearby.

The Polish brigade on the near side of the stream has fallen back across. The Polish cavalry is disordered (yellow circle markers) from a combination of Austrian artillery & infantry fire, and Austrian cavalry.

The large Austrian infantry brigade in the center has crossed the main stream, engaging the Poles. The Austrians have also managed to get a cavalry brigade across and around the Polish left flank (top right). Polish cavalry is still holding out on the near side of the stream.

Another view of the same point of the battle, which is where we ended the game due to time. The Poles managed to keep the Austrians on the near side of the stream for most of the game.
